Go to Settings>System settings>Importer/Exporter>QuickTime and check Enable QuickTime Importer.
If you do not have QuickTime listed under the Importer/Exporter, close EDIUS, then install QuickTime on the computer. This applies from Version 8 forward.

Hello

Apple have recently updated the iOS and the iPhone now records in H265 "efficient recording" unless you tell it not to in settings. You will still see an MP4 mov file even if it is encoded in H265.

If you have material from an up to date IOS phone that's probably what it is.

So your version of Edius will probably need to be able to play H265 which came in with v8.5. Either update Edius or transcode externally using a 3rd party app.

Interestingly Apple's own FCP X on High Sierra OS will not yet edit iPhone material recorded in H265. iMovie will. They will have to fix that.

quicktime

I had an issue on my MacBook that quicktime sees some mp4's as audio only, never figured out why.

If nothing worked, try this:

1. Extract the "QuickTimeInstaller.exe" file (like you would any zip\rar file)
2. You will see a folder called "QuickTimeInstaller"
3. In the folder, install the file "AppleApplicationSupport.msi"

Now it should work.

Issue: EDIUS runs out of memory in Windows 7 with GPU acceleration turned on for the Primary color Corrector.

Since we have gotten a few questions in different threads about this issue here a post to answer all.

The issue is an OS issue specifically Windows 7.

We have been in contact with Microsoft asking for help (fix) but we have made no advancement yet.

Windows 10 users will not have any issue.

The release notes state of EDIUS 8.53.2808 that you can have EDIUS 8.53.2808 and EDIUS 9 on the same system.

Let my clarify.
If EDIUS Pro 8.53 has been installed, EDIUS Pro 9 (trial or full version) will be installed while keeping EDIUS Pro 8.53 on the system. If any other build of EDIUS Pro 8 or earlier is installed, EDIUS Pro 9 will remove it.

Important Notification:
Because Windows 7 OS has passed the end of support date, Grass Valley may no longer be able to provide any fix or improvement for issues/requests confirmed in a Windows 7 environment.

The following issues are fixed or improved in this version:

EDIUS

• BT.709 color matrix is used to display BT.2020 YUV image on the preview window Videoscope doesn't display video information at mouse cursor position during full-screen preview
• There are cases that green matte frames appear while playing Black Magic RAW clips EDIUS exports ProRes MXF clip that contains standard violation
• EDIUS doesn't play a part of certain MXF clip properly
• [ignore extension] option settings on “Clip Restore and Transfer" dialog doesn't work properly if [Relink (select folder)] is selected as the restoration method

Mync

• There are cases that green matte frames appear while playing Black Magic RAW clips
• Mync doesn't play a part of certain MXF clip properly
