    Edius X first impressions...

    Good Morning...

I have to say...i am impressed...adding 4 vitascene fx in a 2 hours Movie, the time to complete the export procedure (H264) is nearly 17 min...( Having Enabled the Intel's QuickSync Option in BIOS). You can add as many fx as you want, it is very stable...!!! Extremely fast, and from the 17th of September Titler Pro 7 will also be available to download and integrate as plugin (and or standalone titler)...All is ok except that i can not export to H265..My GPU (GTX 1060 6GB) is not shown in the list..Grass Valley i have to admit that this version is amazing, especially for the new CPUS from Intel (and or AMD)...it combines the CPU and GPU to Render and export the material. All in RealTime.!!!

Do you have the latest driver for the 1060 installed? It is on the Nvidia list for H.265 export.

Is the 1060 supported by Edius X for NVENC? The 1060 is based on Pascal. Other NVENC encoding applications require the later variation of NVENC that was introduced with Turing, this maybe the same with Edius X. If it is Turing then that would require a minimum of the 1660. There's a 1650 GPU that's based on Turing but its NVENC encoder is based on Volta, which may not work.

I've already had issues with Edius X not recognising the NVENC encoder and that was with two compatible GPUs.

Maybe GV would like to specify the minimum requirement for NVENC compatibility, it'd probably save on all the guessing and speculation.

I may be wrong but I've not seen any documented minimum required specifications for Edius X, let alone any NVENC compatibility, Volta, Pascal or Turing.

I already installed the latest driver but the problem remains...ok this is a very new version they will fix it i am sure.
i don't klnow these details...i think i am not sure , somewhere i have seen something

In this video at 14:00 says that minimum is 1050, or better, 2060 or better, or Quadro equivalent GPU. (this is the first of 3 videos in total about EDIUS X)...

:(It IS OK...i had not checked the "enable conversion" box...:(

it could be that EDIUS is set to start with the Intel graphics instead of Nvidia, check in Nvidia control panel to see what is the GPU for EDIUS

also, you will only see an entry in the H265 exporter if the project setting is progressive. H265 does not support interlaced

Just a question : may Edius X be installed on a PC that has already 8 & 9 WG ?

I will keep 9WG for OHCI capture only

Hi, I have installed edius x demo now, but I have a problem, it doesn't render by itself as it should, but I have to give the order to do the redering in the timeline.
So then I give the order and he does the rendering and in the timeline the line turns purple as in the attachment, but when I start the play, everything is jerky !!!!!!!! Use MP4 file 3840x2160 fps 23.89. natives.
On edius pro 8 using the same files everything runs smoothly without problems, why?
                      thank you.

Still testing things, but H.265 GPU export works fine on my end (fast too). Kinda bummed they no longer support Quicktime import -- Quite alot of the footage I have is DNxHD / DNxHR and a few clients send me stuff in that codec, so this is going to be an issue... Since quick turn-around doesn't allow for transcoding most of the time, I'll have to stick with previous version for the DNx stuff - Such a shame... That said, I haven't run into any major bugsplats yet (crossing fingers).

Yea, I tried to load DNxHD footage into EdiusX but get an "Codec type not supported " error.

Note:The same footage loads into Edius 9 with no issue (among other NLE's) -- However, if I remember correctly - Edius 9 allows for Quicktime import (an option in system settings / import)... Dunno, maybe it's a bug with EdiusX right now.
