    UIs it still the best practice when making a DVD from the EDIUS timeline to first down-rez from 1920x1080 to 720 x 480 before going to DVD, or is it now just as good to go directly from the 1080p timeline to DVD?

    if you have EDIUS7 or later and have Lanczos3 HQ enabled in the SD project preset, you will benefit by switching to your SD preset prior to DVD export, then when done, switch back to your HD preset

    However, if there are any layouter rotations like horizon correction, be sure to render first with Shift+Q prior to switching to SD, otherwise the rotated clips will look very soft
