I mean if you need to capture a DV tape or HDV tape, this is no longer possible in EDIUS X as Generic OHCI and HDV have been removed

you should have upgraded to EDIUS 9 from 7 via a jump upgrade

that way you get EDIUS 9 and X and you can use 9 whenever you need to capture DV or need to use Shift+Q for render and add to timeline

ahahh, you are talking about render and add to timeline?

I hope this option returns soon, it is needed by 99.999% of editors

OK so I have a clip from a zoom video call. It has the person's name on it. I splice and dice that clip and zoom and in out constantly. So I need to make another version of that clip with a black square covering the name, or else it's endless editing adding that black square on many clips. Zooming in and out I'd have to follow the name with the black square. I did that once and realized it's a disaster. Make sense?

let me ask, why are you rendering? rendering is mostly only needed on sections that don't play realtime while editing and you wish to see it in realtime

when the edit is done, then you can print to file and make small size files like H264 with low bitrate and they will look good, even better than youtube ones

When I change the render settings in project, and make a clip, the smallest I can get this to render from a 175MB clip, 2 minutes long, is into 2.5 GB. This is really the main reason I bought Edius 10, hoping to not constantly make such huge files. What settings can I do to at least make a 175MB clip from a 175MB clip? Are these render settings customizable with a custom codec? Is there any kind of newer Handbrake conversion tool available inside Edius 10?

I literally upload these huge files to YouTube, and download them, and they are like 95% perfect quality, and 90% of the size.

if you untick hardware encoder, you can use 9M or less for HD

Anton, in Edius 10, can you now tell me the options you choose to export a smaller file, but great resolution for Youtube, etc...

you can copy the NewBlue folder and the vistile importer plugin from 7 Plugins to 9 Plugins
deactivate Robuskey in 7 and download the latest Robuskey, then activate it in 9

then when X is released, copy from 9 Plugins to X plugins

Anton, do you know if my other 3rd party applications will upgrade along with the upgrade of Edius? NewBlueFX, Robuskey, Vistitle? Or do you think it's a full uninstall and reinstall of everything?

OK with those settings it still outputs the sync out of whack... I like the idea that the new Edius version will do this on one shot. Will wait a few weeks and grab Edius 10.

tick dual pass and turbo first pass and type 5000

you have a later version Handbrake which I dislike, so you may also have to tick "Align A/V start"

Can you tell me what settings I might change in here to get to the H264 with only 5M bitrate as described above?
