  • Multiple Graphic Cards

    Hi All,

I just came into the unfortunate reality that the 8800GT that got sent to me will not work with Edius. But I do have a ATI 2600 that works great.

The Question is if I install the 8800GT and the 2600 in the same machine... How does Windows XP handle this. All I can think of is that there will be Driver conflicts.

*********************THIS WHOLE THREAD WENT OFF TRACK**************************
    ************************************************** **************************
PLEASE IF ANYONE HAS 2 DIFFERENT GRAPHIC CARDS NVIDIA OR ATI INSTALLED IN THEIR SYSTEM ON WINDOWS XP PLEASE SEE FIT TO RESPOND.

WILL I HAVE ISSUES OR WILL THEY WORK TOGETHER??

When you say it does not work, what do you mean?
Is this a G92 version or the original release?

Well after installing the Nvidia 8800GT card all my xplode Pro Effects are rendering incorrectly rendering errors and SLOW. Edius also is running slower than it did with the ATI 2600. I love xplode FX so I am not ready to give them up.

I only had the 8800 in the system at the time of the Test.

Not sure if it is a G92?

I had to return a defective 8800gts 512 G92 card and I am waiting to get the replacement. I am hoping it works. I use Xplode, but don't care if it is real time.

I have yet to see anyone make it work correctly. If Xplode effects rendered correctly It would be ok, but they don't. There are Whole 3D layers that are rendered invisible. So effects that I worked with before cannot be used. These errors show up even after the final render.

Hope someone else has had luck. But Right now the ATI 2600 kicks the 8800 in all areas. Rendering Xplode is 5 to 6 times faster. Also Xplode runs in Realtime.

Also I think all current 8800 cards are G92. (I see that you are getting the GTS I guess this is where the difference can be)

I can't use an ATI due to IRQ issues with my controller cards. I have a 1950x that I had to move to my other machine.
When you say real time Xplode is this with the blue line above the timeline or does it just play through the effect and leave a red line on top? Is this SD and or HD?

Just tried (ATI 2600) 3D object wipe on on Video clip it has the Blue Line. I extended the effect to 2-4 seconds... Still Light Blue Line. Also Multiple objects effect (two Page Peels 2 with Logos) Blue Line.

Thanks, I take it was SD and not HD 1920x1080.

Did you completely remove all ATI drivers from your machine before installing the 8800?
Also since the 8xxx series is made for DirX 10, if you are using it with XP you have to make sure you are using the latest DirX 9 as it has updated D3D 10 components, sometimes the version shipped with the cards is a older version of DirX 9, the latest redistributable version available from MS is March 08

I'm very sure I did remove everything. Also Since I can run Crysis which is a game that uses DX9 to its limits I'm sure I have the latest DX9 (DX9c -(4.09)
I used the latest drivers from the Nvidia Website for the install.

According to MS the latest version is 9.22.1284 dated this month, 3/7/2008 which has parts of DirX 10 particularly D3DX 10, this helps newer cards to run with XP or 2000

I have not been able to get Xplodes speed back ever since I got my new MB and chip. I had a ATI 800 PCI Xpress running on a dual 3.4 Xeon and I had great RT now I can run the same card in my new Quad core and I cant get RT or it even to run reasonbly fast. And I get a time out error when I try to change the renderer.

Welcome to the future. Keep in mind though, that Xplode is history. The next version of Edius will not contain Xplode. New effects are in the works and will rely heavily on GPU power.
