NO UHD File Output

HI guys. Hope all is well with everyone. Small hiccup: UHD timeline. Resulting BluRays at 1920 are terrific. All is well with HD. Want to Archive a UHD file output from timeline with "Output file". Will not work - message says that no UHD Hardware to output to file. Really! Is there any solution? EDIUS 9.40. Many thanks,

Hi Alan

that error usually only happens if you are exporting a h265 file which you can't do with your listed CPU

you should be able to archive a Prores or HQX or h264

Thanks Anton. Will try the HQX way. Is the HQX quality about the same as ProRes, which I understand is much better than h264? Not too concerned with file size for archive.

HQX and Prores are the same quality wise, Prores has the benefit that it can be easily shared with Mac users

and yes, quality of HQX or Prores is better and easier to edit than h264

Once more into the fire, please. Did a file output with ProRes and my file for a 2 hour/4 minute UHD 59.94p timeline was a little over 1TB. Whoa! Couldn't find a chart that would give me any basic figures. Does this sound real?? (But the picture is amazing!).

which Prores setting did you choose? HQ? LT? 4:2:2? (LT is still excellent and produces smaller files, HQ is large)

Again - thanks for your support Anton. ProRes LT turned out a file about 65% as big as the HQ file. On my 14 ft. projection screen I can barely (if at all) notice any difference from the camera original - and that observation might be psychological and not reality!

Because of this Corona issue I am doing lots of drive-in cinema releases of concerts where no audience is allowed and I also export Prores and then open it in DCP-o-matic and export the DCP image for the cinema, results are great

Great info. I forgot that I had to do the same with our Award-winning dramatic short that's being distributed here to TV stations and small theatrical venues nationally.
