  • New to Edius Pro 4.5

    Hallo

I am new to Edius and this is my first post here. My name is Ulf, and I live in Denmark. I am used to other NLE's but have not used Edius before.

I have downloadet the trial version, installed it, and started to play with it. So far I like it very much, and have surfed this forum too to read.

I hope it is ok to ask a few 'presales quest.' here.

So far I have not been able to find out if the Edius will benifit from a 'big' GPU.

I have 3 cams, Sony FX7, Canon HV20 and Canon XHA1. Will they all 3 work ok with Edius?

I have only found hardwarecompatibility charts for motherboards reg. Canopus hardware. Is there hardware that I should avoid or any components better to use, f.ex. is nvidia / ATI equal good?

Thanks in advance. I wish all happy easterdays.

    /Ulf
Best regards * Ulf * Denmark

    Hi Ulf!

I like your country - it brings me LEGO!!

EDIUS processes real-time effects (decoding, scaling, framerate conversion, effects, filters, titles) all in CPU, so the more CPU power you have available, the more you will be able to do in real-time.

EDIUS will always try to play back full-quality, full-frame. If it cannot, then either it will stop or it will play frames as fast as it can. This is very different from most other editors that will reduce quality or drop frames to play back.

So yes, the more powerful the system, the more you will be able to achieve - more effects, more layers, etc.

      Hi Brandon

      Thanks for your reply.

You should go and visit 'Lego Land' (a big amusementpark for kids) one day :-)

I like your country too - It brings me Hof :)

I have an HV20, I use it with Edius with no problem at all, I do almost all my editing in HDV 1440 x 1080..without any Raid discs, works perfect

Hi Ulf, welcome to the non-lurking side of the Forum.

Lucky for us, Denmark offers more than Legos and Shakespearian decomposition.

As mentioned, all your cams will work perfectly.
Unfortunately, Edius does not get a boost from your GPU. Plug-ins like Vitascene do!
