In editing videos, RT output to external TV Monitor is fundamental.
Because you can get the right color temperature, the right positioning behaviour on screen of graphics, PiPs, titles and DVD menus.
From Edius, with a NX/Strom/Raptor card you can get analog live output to monitor; and with a OHCI DV card you can RT output live to monitor (with a small time-lag) using a DV-to-Analog decoder (like ADVC Canopus box).
That's fine.
Anyway, in my opinion, RT live output to external monitor should be achieved all the time from anywhere:
1)from timeline;
2)from QuickTitler;
3)from thirdy party applications;
4)from Edius DVD creator;
Point 1): the situation is fine: everything works like a charm.
Point 2) the situation is so and so fine: if you create from the timeline (T button) in any track a title with QuickTitler you don't have live output to external monitor.
Instead, if you create a title with QuickTitler from the Bin, you get a charm, even blurry, live output to external monitor.
Probably, this is a known issue of the last Edius release and possibly might be solved.
By the way, the famous TitleMotion does not offer live output at all, and this is history unsolved and unchanged over the years.
Point 4) the situation is quiet good thanks to plugins for Max, Maya and so on.
Point 4) Edius DVD creator has no live output to external monitor at all. There's no way to preview menus, chapters and footage to an external monitor from it. You only can get a small and wacky preview VGA window offering erratic behaviour in color temperature and screen positionings.
So, I'm speaking about RT live output to external monitor to be achieved in every funcion of Edius, not only while editing from the timeline.
Anyone can add own suggestions?
