  • Delete Gap ?

    Hello again!

Can anyone explain to me please why sometimes when I delete a piece from the timeline, right click and choose Delete Gap, nothing happens? As always thanks!!

Be sure you are NOT in Sync Mode. Other surrounding clips will control the amount of gap you can close.

Sync Mode... Still the most useful and most annoyingly hidden feature.

You can also select clip(s) to the right of your gap(s) and close them all with "Backspace".

        old news (sorry mods)

Yah, go figure. It's probably the most used/unused feature I toggle frequently that is so strangely hidden. (my only rant) It's been hidden (and I've commented on it) since (I think) v1.

sync mode is very important, in 90% cases you would have it on

          1. place a clip on VA1 and on VA2 and on VA3 etc and some audio clips etc

with sync mode on, hold shift+alt as you drag a clip, you will see that all clips to the right of the one being dragged will move along, very very very very very very useful

          2. now disable sync mode and you will notice that only all clips on the same tracks as the clip that is being dragged will move, not very useful in 90% of cases

This feature trys to keep all of the video synced up.

If you seperate the video and audio and you use delete gap between video clips then the video will move and the audio will not going out of sync.

I do not like ripple but I like Sync very much :)

                Mike,

I was no big fan of Ripple Mode for several weeks.

Now I use it almost always and really like the new toggle button. A must-have on the toolbar. A fantastic time saver!

Thanks Rusty - I've trying to figure out how to delete all gaps on a timeline for a while now. This trick certainly improves my work flow - thanks again!
