  • DVD MPEG2 Encodes

Tonight I encoded out a DVD MPEG2 8mbps CBR file with EDIUS from a HDV timline. It looked abit soft.

Then I did another one with Procder Express it was much better.
    Both were on highest settings.

If you have ProCoder 3, try using VBR and 2 pass - much better results.

I have not got Procoder 3 but I have other encoders I'll,try out.
How can VBR 2 pass be better than one single CBR 8mbps?

Only in extreme cases with complex scenes and lots of motion. In probably 99% of all cases 8Mbps CBR is going to be indistinguishable from 2-pass VBR.
