Wave Arts Power Suite 5.40

Hi,
I posted a thread a few weeks ago about how to normalize audio in Edius,
I now have Wave Arts Power Suite 5.40 VST Plugins and would like to know how you use it to normalize the audio, I am not very good on Audio software as I have never had much to do with it, Any help would be great if any one knows this program.

Anyway to get you going a bit, once you have opened you Wave Arts VST plug in, put it on your timelime and dubbel click to open settings, there should be something like compressor threshold, try something like -10db with a ratio of 3:1 or 4:1., The lower the threshold value the more it attenuates. The higher the ratio the more "Harsh" it gets. Multi band compression would be the best but more difficult to use (don't know if Wave Arts has this)

For the limiter settings you could use "0" dB hardbrick (at bit crude though) I myself like a bit of headroom, there I would use a soft / medium knee at -1 dB and a brick limit at -0.1 so that it never touches "0" dB

The limiter is mostly set and never adjusted after this, the compressor needs some tweaking to get the results looked for.

Try to play with the threshold level (-10, -15, -20 Db etc) and see what this does for you, there are even more settings like attack and release for further tweaking. Slower attack and longer release will make the sound more smooth. Tweak this until there is no "pumping" or "breathing" sound.

There is no right or wrong, only over processed or not enough.
Compare sound processing with a video filter, everybody's taste is different.
Only through play and listen you get the feeling of what which setting does for you, and how it should sound and how not of course.

There is only one guide line for audio processing, less is better, make sure to process as much as possible without making it artificial.

Use Final Plug section of Wavearts, and use CD mastering preset to start with, this sets the input threshold to -6db, reduce this to -9db if you need more drive ( your audio is low) or increase towards minus 3 if you are getting over level correction "reds" on the attenuation meters.

The great thing about all these vst's is NO POPPING on entry or exit.
A bit damm expensive at 600 dollars!
