Hi all I downloaded the demo, because I like what I read about Edius when conected to canopus hardware.....when I go to install after I enter everything and things start copying, a few seconds into the install the computer crashes hard- BSOD each of three times till I turned off debug...What could be so nasty in the install to do THAT? BSOD says BAD POOL CALLER

Install a No Go
Ok so installing Edius Trial gives me a BSOD everytime....I failed to mention system specs....winxp sp2, Asus p5wdh with core 2 duo 3ghz, 2meg Ram Ati Radeon HD2600 w/ 512MB which seems OK. wacky software?? you mean windows?!? I do have AV software I may unistall and try one more time, but code that caused BSOD (blue screen of death) makes me wonder....Jdroadie

I I am in complete awe of what Edius can do. FCP Suite is worth it... for Motion and Soundtrack. But the FCP Editor does not hold a candle to what Edius can do. Edius makes things that are very complex to do in FCP easy.
What I mean about wacky is ... what other software have you added to Windows. Like Skins and other Background tasks running with windows. There is nothing wrong with Windows XP it is a fine operating system. But if you have added Hacks and other things to it, thats what could cause software to crash like this.---------------------------------------------------

no I got wacky, there are a few things on this box but oddly I found it....BSOD was BAD Pool caller which apparently is tied to some USB...I do have a whacky USB device a RATOC USB2 to SCSI adapter which does a great job of keeping my very cool scsi scanner employed...I unplugged it on a hunch and the install ran... HOWEVER, Edius boots I select a project setting and the big screen opens...for a second then I get the "encountered an error and must close" dialog.....a rocky start nonetheless, I am going to have to ask GV for additional days on my trial.....Jdroadie

Wow
Hi all closing my own thread....I got it working....A usb device stopped the install, but edius coexists fine after that....A reinstall including Direct X fixed my launch problem and all I can say now is WOW, it was worth it. This product with its stash of DVE moves and killer stock effects is amazing....with limited tinkering I am dazzled at its realtime, it really seems t
o be in way Premiere (I only have CS2) and Vegas could only dream (wet) about...I almost bought a Mac but I might try this for awhile and now I am wondering what NX might bring...Is there anything I will hate?Jdroadie

No nothing, it's all sunny days and blue skies from here onwards (no blue screens !)
As for the NX card, it give's no extra power to edius (correct me if I'm wrong guys) but does a great job at real time video output on a TV monitor.
It also enable's you to capture superb analog video from vhs devices etc.
So if you need real time preview or analog capture, get NX, if HD preview on a HD TV is needed get NX+ Expansion, if you want to capture SD or HD video and don't need analog capturing or real time TV preview just use a standard IEEE1394 capture card.
In the Mac G4 days I had FCP & Matrox for about a year, hated it, Sold it, Got Edius, Loved it, Never looked back !Comment

You get the best of both worlds that way. But a PC is really cheap especially since you own one already. Great Job sticking with getting it working.---------------------------------------------------
