Just ordered a new edius nx card and they sold the new EDIUS NX Creative
i was told it has

The EX-1 support is only in EDIUS Broadcast, yet it says Pro 4?

just that it was going to be available end 2007 and the UK distributors knew nothing about it.
Maybe these bundles have filtered though.
Not sure if it has the broadcast dongle to get to XDCam and EX1 support.
How much did you pay and who from?

I got him to make sure that it was computable with dvcpro hd p2 suport.

This bundle is available now and does support the EX-1, P2 and XDCAM even though it is not Edius Broadcast. It is a special build for this bundle.

Please note it does not include the FireCoder, Title Motion Pro or Grid Encoder.

In the UK and Benelux regions the bundle will probably include a voucher to get some Blu-ray authoring software too.

So Chris, let me get this straight, It does support the formats that previously were Edius Braodcast only, yet it is classified as Edius Pro?

If that is true it sure seems like there might be some headaches down the road on differentiating between REGULAR Edius Pro and THIS Edius Pro.

I couldn't agree more, Pat. Since we don't have it in North America, I'm not totally sure how they're making this work; I can only guess that since all NX packages by default come with EDIUS Pro, the bundle includes the Broadcast upgrade dongle too? Just a shot in the dark...

I'm sure it will be a challenge to handle the normal volume of upgrades the next time around with the next big release (I think it took me 4+ months to take care of all the pre-order upgrades to EDIUS v.4 just from sheer volume), let alone to have to differentiate between what really is and what really isn't EDIUS Pro/Broadcast. If we were offering this bundle in North America, I would consider the customer as an owner of EDIUS Broadcast, and I'm sure my counterparts in the UK/Europe will do the same.

As I understand it, the dongle contains the necessary licenses for XDCAM EX.

Either that, or they changed it to just be a Broadcast dongle altogether.

To me it looks like it is a broadcast dongle because in some pr releases infinity is also named.

That has to be the case. The Edius software is the same. Tt is the dongle that unlocks different support.

This is a special SKU that has been prepared for the European market. The dongle that ships with it unlocks P2, XDCAM and Infinity JPEG2k support, so yes, it's a kind of Broadcast derivative. The bundle also includes ProDAD software.

The NX does well in Europe, yet in the US the SP seems to be the weapon of choice. In China we have yet another, lower cost hardware derivative. Different territories prefer different products and we offer all the regions the ability to make tailored offers in this way.

Because our website is localised, we can show special offers such as the HD Creative Suite by using the different language buttons, and you will see them under Special Promotions. English presents a problem however, as it is universal. We are looking at ways of addressing this and making it clearer which offers are available in different sales territories.

We've thought about future upgrade paths though, and believe that we will have something that works for most people.
