  • Edius Broadcast keeps losing Sony EX1 Clip Brpwser

The title of this post says it all. Sometimes, when I restart Edius, the TOOLS/ XDCAM EX Clip Browser is missing. I have to reinstall the Clip Browser, then it reappears in the TOOLS menu.

Anyone know why this keeps happening?

V1.1 is the same as 1.01.1567
Don't know why Sony shows it as v1.1 on their website

              There is a readme file with the Clip browser DL that states;

              "Please note:
The newest version of the XDCAM EX ClipBrowser software has been referred to as "version 1.1".
The actual version information of the files is version 1.01."

                SRsupport...

I have Edius installed on a laptop and a workstation. I continually swap the dongle from one to the other, sometimes starting Edius and forgetting the dongle. Since I'm still under the 30 day trial, Edius will start, but no Clip Browser. That's ok and expected without the dongle. I think the problem is that Edius loses its link to the ClipBrowser, so, when I remember to put the dongle in and restart edius, the link is gone.

Witout the broadcast dongle EDIUS wil start but will go in to pro mode.

SO you are not loosing anything it is just that Edius Pro does not support the EX natively so the is why you are not seeing the E software.
As soon as you plug-in your dongle and start EDIUS again you will see the ex browser software again.

So this is not the fault of Edius but user error.

If you want to use both system at the same time better buy another broadcast dongle.

                    Steve,
You did not read and understand my post, sir. I fully expect that Edius will revert to the Pro version without the dongle. However, the situation is that when I re-insert the dongle, Edius broadcast does not show the Clipbrowser.

Are you suggesting that if I forget to insert the dongle, Edius Broadcast is permanently disabled as far as seeing the clipbrowser?

I just tried it and it does not happen on 2 of my machines.

Are you pluggin in while Edius is running?

No. I wouldn't expect that to work.
And the problem doesn't recur every time. It seems random.

Hmm that is strange. Maybe that is why I have not seen it just now.

At any rate, thanx for your time.
Perhaps, once the 30 day trial has expired, Edius won't start without the dongle and the problem will be solved, defacto. ;o)
