  • XDCam workflow

    XDCAm Virgin requires help!!
I have 4.6 Broadcast. I now have 3 XDCam discs (Fedexed from the US) which are in HD, if the ticks are to be believed. So........when the player arrives that is being hired in what is the best workflow. Once the XDCam native files are ingested is it better to batch convert to HQ?

    Any help appreciated.

    Think Meta data he he.

I think you have a nice machine which will handle them natively.

You can Edit the proxies and then only use the High ress files when you are done.

Thank You. I will hopefully sit down later and ingest the pdf. I suppose its like anything you do for the first time, just as you get older the trepidation is larger!!! Still trying to source a deck- so little appetite over here for XDCam no one locally has one.

If you are after a lo-fi XDCAM solution to borrow, see if you can grab the PDW-U1. Tiny little unit that ditches the deck-control, SDI, VTR emulation stuff and just acts like an external Professional Disc reader/writer. We've used them at the last few tradeshows quite successful.

Perfect for the quick and simple stuff.

So U1 will *write* xdcam pro as well -- I had thought it was only a reader, given the pricepoint. Cool....

I'm looking for something exactly like this for my EX1 workflow. Thanks!

                Well...sort of.

Sony say that writing functionality is coming "Spring 2008" via a firmware/software update.
