  • Opening a Still from the timeline for external editing.

When I right click on a still and choose open Edius is using Windows Paint to edit the bitmap and not Photoshop. I have set windows to open all .BMP with Photoshop and I've set Edius to export stills to .PSD but when I right click on a still and choose open it just uses windows paint!

Do any of you had the same experience or have a solution?

    Thanks in advance :)

    Julian

You are right...It does exactly the same here...It seems like Edius is not aware of the file associations so it uses the default...or something like this...

excuse my "gibberish" english .... it is not my native language....

it is Edius [bad translated] Interface issue .... it is a old issue .. I know it since the old 3.22 days ....
post the solution\workaround 08-2005 in german canopus.de forum and the old Canopus.com forum ..... but ".com" is dead.....

the key is: Edius UI write "open" but the path that Edius in windows-system goes,
is NOT the path to "open" .... it is the path to "edit"

workaround [in windows] try to register [to fill out] or to change the "edit" in the "filetype windows" to the application your option i.e. Photoshop.exe

in the following exampel: for "JPEG" is the application option set to "IrfanView"
sorry, I have only (the old) pictures from german XP to to explain

maybe, a other User (or Support ???) can to supply with pictures from english XP and the correct words from a english XP-Interface

friendly greetings from ViennaLowLevelService ........... old Hans

While we're on the topic, what's the best way to configure Edius to generate frame grabs with minimal effort - preferably just one keyboard command?
Edius 6.5 on Lenovo W520 laptop: Intel Core i7-2720QM @2.2 GHz, Nvidia graphics card, 8GB RAM, Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. Canon Vixia HF-G10, three Sony HDV video cameras and one Canon 7D.

And to add further to Anton's tip there - you might also want to check out the Plug-in Settings menu options for Still Image - this controls the default handling of things like still image file type, aspect ratio, field/frame, filtering.

Set those up how you like, and then you can make stills very easily!

Ctrl-T Will create a still from either the Player Window or the timeline depending on which one is active at the time.
