it is a bug but I never reported it because it does not bother me, I prefer to enter my own dimension anytime

the problem is that if you choose 16:9 from dropdown, the resulting file will be 4:3

the only way to overcome this is by entering pixel dimensions such as 480x270, then the dropdown automatically reports 16:9 and the resulting file is 16:9

this has been the case ever since I started using Edius

It's not really a problem per-se, it's just that frame dimensions are independent of frame aspect. The combination of the two determines pixel aspect ratio.

In the advanced section of the wizard it refers to video aspect and pixel aspect. Do I set the top part video to 16:9 and forget about pixels or vice versa?
procoder has trouble with its own 16:9 setting, you need to type the pixel size manually, then it will work

whatever width you use, divide by 1.7777777777777 and then use the result as the height

    I use 480x270 mostly

I'd definitely recommend using H.264 over Sorenson for your QT video encoder..

    Problem now solved.
I went to Quicktime web site and downloaded another
installer. Did a repair with the new version and all is fine.
One further question though. What are the best settings for output to
    16:9 PAL in QT please?

Export to file problem - Quicktime

After many attempts using Procoder Express I have failed
to get a working QT web clip. Each time I use the wizard
everything seems to be fine, however.....
Once the clip has been compiled when I click on it all I get
is a dialogue box " Error -50 an unknown occurred."
    Below are my settings

    EDIUS Project settings

    Channel : 2
    Setup
Rendering format : Canopus HQ AVI

    Audio Reference Level : -20.0dB

    duration of video 10 mins

    Procoder express wizard
web video, Quicktime, Speech with background music, web server, 512 kbps
    Output format QuickTime 6 (.mov), 384x288, 16 bit, 48000 Hz, 1 Channels
    Streaming mode no internet streaming
    width 384
    Height 288
Frame Rate Type Max Frame rate
    Frame rate 25.000
    Interlacing Non-interlaced
Aspect Ratio Video (256:135) Pixel (64:45)

    Bits/Pixels 24 bits per pixel
    Spatial Quality Medium
    Channels Mono
    Sample Rate 48.000
    Bits/sample 16
    Encoder Apple lossless

I have re-installed EDIUS, Procoder, Quicktime several times. I have tried various settings within Procoder wizard
but the same problem occurs every time.
    Can anyone help please.
    Thank you
