    Project Settings

    Guys,

Still a begginer with this so need some help. Have an LCD plugged into DVX card for monitoring. When setting project settings, if I set "Generic OHCI" I get sound and picture on PC, but nothing on monitor. If I set DVX-E1 Output" on card I get picture on both but no sound. Don't need monitor but it helps. Any ideas?

When you use a hardware preset such as dvx-E1 both the audio and video are routed via the DVX.
That means that you have to monitor your audio out of the DVX instead of the sound card.

It all depends on your setup

1You can take the out of the dvx and put in the in of your sound card. So you have the sound card out as active always.
2 You can hook both you sound card out and the dvx out to a mixer so that you can monitor sound card and dvx out independent. (this is the way it is setup on our nle's nx + storm)
3 You can pull cables and replug on switching presets. :) labor intensive he he.

Thanks for your reply, but when I use the DVX preset, I get no sound at all (monitor or pc).

Its an LCD connected by a phono lead to the DVX card, so you get the same picture you get on the PC. But when you set the project settings to DVX-E1 output you get picture on the pc, picture on the LCD but no sound at all on anything. When you change the project setting to Generic OHCI the PC is fine (picture and sound) but nothing on the LCD Presumably because the DVX card has been effectivly disconnected by the project setting.

The question is, where are you expecting to hear sound from? The LCD or your computer speakers? :)

The dvx has rca connections right? How does the phono enter the equation?

Sorry, RCA not phono. The lead going to the LCD comes off the Video out RCA and goes to the LCD. The sound comes from the computer sound card and is connected to an external amplifier, so comes from here not the LCD (picture only). But when project settings are on DVXE1 there is no sound at all. As soon as you change it to Generic its fine but no picture on the LCD.

but that is what i explained in my first answer

If you put the project on OHCI sounds comes out of the soundcard

If you put it to dvx sound does not come out of the sound card because the sound is going out of the DVX.

That is how it is suppose to work.
I have given you suggestions how to set it up in my first answer.

Try the suggestion under point 1
Please read them again and your problem will be solved in 1/2 a second

Yes I understand. I have connected the sound out of the DVX to the amplifier but still no sound with DVXE1 setting (I did try this previously but thought it must be wrong).

Make a new project with the dvx setting
add a 3min color bar with tone at -12 db
open the edius mixer look if see the vu displaying.

Now do you hear audio out of the dvx?

Can you post a screen grab when you have the mixer open.
And which project settings are you using?

Just double checked my leads and one is broken. Changed it and bobs your uncle. Have learnt a few things from your replies so many thanks for your time and patience.
