  • Work Flow with .m2p and .mpg files

I need assistance from users that have had to extract these files from non- copyright DVD's and re-edit on the Edius 4.54 timeline. My client wants a final DVD of several parts of a group of DVD's that contain these file formats.

So far, I have just used Disc capture to get the files and found out, by selecting "Re-construct files and " Segment Encode files", it works better.
I'm not sure what these two features are doing.

One problem that I have noticed is when I "double click" on a clip in the "Bin" to review it on the left monitor window, the first file works properly; however, the next time I try to review a file this way, you only see the first file. I have to close Edius each time and start it up to review another file in the monitor window.

I would like to know if I continue this process through out the edit session, if I will end up not being able to produce a chaptered DVD using DVD creator ?

Should I have converted all files to Canopus DV format first by right clicking them in the "Bin"?

My machine is P4 3.2 gig Ht 2Gb XP pro

Please respond quickly. Lots of work to do.

    Thanks

I just re-edit a previous job that had no back avi, it was a 8mb cbr m2p file and it worked well in realtime with my old xeon rig.

With edius 3.x I was never able to get anywhere near realtime with m2p but now with 4.6 it runs very smooth.

On my system with a vbr m2p file it's still a little sluggish but way better than before, vbr I normally also convert back to avi.
