  • Will I need anything additional for EX1 editing?

I am updating to 4.6 right now.
Will I need any additional drivers to work with the EX1 and its footage? Or can I just plug in the cam via USB, drag the files to a RAID and import via XDCam import?

It is funny that this update comes now just when I have the first shoot with an EX1. Great news.

Yes, the release was syncronized very well. You do have Edius Broadcast, correct? The EX-1 codec is only unlocked in the Broadcast version.

Will I need the Sony software? It is not my cam and the camoperator will leave shortly after the shoot. All I want is just get the data off the cam and walk away with the harddrive.

If you will do it frequently it makes sense to download the soft ex clip browsing software. (it's free)
You See Possibilities. We Imagine Solutions. Discover Our Products, Solutions and Technologies And Transform Your Business Today.

It will show up under the capture header in edius and gives problem free import. :)

Ok, installed that. I got some data here now. Is this the correct workflow?

1 - I drag data from cam to a directory on my HDD
2 - run Edius and create directory for XDCam material
3 - Open XDCam EX Viewer from within Edius
4 - select clipicons in EX viewer and drag them into my bin

Is that it? I thought I would use XDCam Select as a tool, but that doesn´t wanna work with me

nope .....you can't use xdcam select.
The work flow you want you need the ex browser not the xdcam select.

That's why sony gave it this name XDCAM EX tm
                  To differentiate it from xdcam

For full EX support you need Edius broadcast.

It is a paid upgrade. Check the main section of the website or your local GV reseller.

I use broadcast of course. Love the dongle as I can use 3 machines and swap the dongle to wherever I am (laptop, big and small editing suite)
