  • Edius 4.6 Update - Corrupt Files

    Hi,
Seeing there are no other posts with corrupt file downloads I will assume that after a 3 hour download I got a bum one. Now waiting for another 3 hour download at 55kb/s which did rise to 110kb/s for a short time but fell back.

When I unzipped the original file I downloaded Winzip reported:-
    Drivers/RX-EX1 Data2 Cab corrupt
    Edius/Help/DEU/edius.chm corrupt
    Edius/Help/JPN/tmj.chm corrupt
    Edius/Data1.irt corrupt
    Tools/K2Auroalntegration/SetupExternalControl.exe corrupt
    Tools/ProCoderExpress/data2cab corrupt

Did you save the files on a external drive? Then zip to another drive? I've had
a problem with USB drives with rar and zip, when uncompressing large files. This only happen rarely, but was solved when the zip file was copied to an internal drive and unzipped from there.

Are you using the latest Winzip?

Hi, Thanks for your help. It was downloaded direct to my HDD in the PC, I downloaded latest Winrar but the unzipping was still corrupt on those files. My second download is about to finish in 10 mins so I can see if the first download was corrupt as I expected
      Regards
      Keith

      Addendum:
New download still has 1 corrupt file namely:-
      Tools/K2Auroalntegration/SetupExternalControl.exe corrupt
but seeing as others are having a problem with this update
albeit not with corrupt files and GV are recommending to wait for
      problem to be sorted

          Hi Anton,
Nopes - downloading direct from Canopus / GV web site, no intermediate software being used.

there was no problem here at all

maybe too many users were downloading when you downloaded? what was the download speed?

I would not install until you can unzip with winzip with no errors

I have just completed a third download and this time I have 5 files fail the CRC in WinRar.
Each download was run at different times of the day and in all of them I was only able to achieve around 70KB/sec max usually fell to around 50KB/s. On the first download it did creep up to 110KB/sec remained there for about 1 minute, then gradually fell back to 50KB/sec. Last night 2000GMT I managed a whole 38KB/sec. I am on broadband with 8Mb connection and rarely have these speed problems and never all this corruption.

I have a 24Mb broadband connection which only managed 107Kb. The files were not corrupt but the installation was. I got the message "This version has already expired" and Edius would not let me uninstall telling me it could not find installation file.

I check all the files that I upload to the server for any errors (and obviously, download and unzip them).

I'm not sure what could be causing this strangeness other than there possibly being an issue with some of the server-mirror with our file hosting service.

I'll do some digging around. Until then, all I can suggest is that you persevere, or if you're truly stuck, contact your nearest tech support and see if they can send you out a CD-R.

I would try winzip if winrar fails and I would make sure the system temp folder is empty prior to any installation

FYI, I only ever use WinRar or the native Windows unzip wizard.

I haven't used Winzip in many years.

                        Hi
I have now downloaded the update file some 6 times at around 3 hours download each time. It is the same files namely K2Auroa file and data2.irt that are always corrupt. A friend locally also tried a download and whilst his was only 50 mins download it was also corrupt. The common factor here is we are both using Tiscali as the ISP.
To answer the zip programmes - I downloaded winzip and tried that - file corrupt - then tried winrar - file corrupt.

                            Hi Editpoint
Many thanks for PM - reply sent.

I have today downloaded 2 more copies of the 4.6 download - both had corrupt files in them so I have now given up on downloading and will be obtaining a copy on CD

                            Regards

I just finished the second download but WinRar shows the first two CAB files as damaged, third one is fine. I won't try to install it.
