Well, I had some 30 files, none too long. The audio was something like 8khz mono; the video look pretty good. I couldn't get ProCoder to batch (the sucker), so I had to re-encode them one by one to dv avi into edius for editing. It was not terribly fun, but it worked and the final product is good. I did upgrade to 4.6. I was sort of disappointed at the way I had to do things. But that continues to be video editing. Thanks for the suggestions. You guys are great, especially for those of us who have other jobs but continue to shoot and edit video.

There were some problems with audio not importing with .mov clips. This was reported quite a while ago. The 4.6 update seemed to fix this. So I kind of repeat my original post...try updating to 4.6x and see if that solves your problems
BTW, I do agree that overall you may be better off to convert to avi

Pam, I use QT .Mov all the time without any audio problems. They played fine back at 4.54 as well. My QT files used the Radius Soft DV codec. Some at 32 Khz and some at 48 Khz audio.
I would batch encode them to .avi as someone already suggested. I don't know if Procoder bundled with Edius allows batching. I use another conversion app that allows batch encoding of files. Set it up to run overnight when you are sleepng.

There are quite a number of files...no easier way to make them compatible when brought into the Edius bin???

If you have QuickTime Pro, open that file with QTPro and export the audio to AIFF.
Now load the .mov and remove the audio from the clip but then import the newly created aiff file and sync the first frame of the audio clip and the first frame of the video clip...then group these two clips together and you will have a working clip.

You maybe want to check your project audio settings, make sure that if your "mov" file sound is 32k, it will match your project settings.

Re: No audio in mov files
I was just given a couple of SD cards with mov file videos. The video is fine, but no audio. The audio plays great with video in QT, just not in Edius v4.54. So what's the scoop?
Thanks.
Pam

You're ok, Edius is not happy with all the Apple audio flavors.
Convert to .avi and you're much better off.
