    Toshiba to give up on HD DVD, end format war: source

    Toshiba Corp <6502.T> is planning to give up on its HD DVD format for high definition DVDs, conceding defeat to the competing Blu-Ray technology backed by Sony Corp <6758.T>, a company source said on Saturday.


    Hope the news are in time for version 4.6.
    Now that Blu Ray is the "standard" I hope it becomes adopted by GV.

    Toshiba throws in the towell!

    I don't believe the war is over yet. Look at Blue Ray sales compared to HD DVD! But we'll see!

      Let's wait for the official word, and not run off the tabloid-esque gossip running rampant, shall we.

      As it is, there are currently no plans for implementing authoring of either format in the short term.
