I just tried this updated driver, and it seems to have fixed the overlay problem. The full screen video output on the second DVI monitor works nicely too.

I plan to look for other drivers and see what's the best one, but at least it's working now.

By the way, my OS is XP Pro, ther are other drivers for XP 64 bit and Vista.

Thanks Richard,THAT'S IT now it works, but i had to change the hardware settings in Edius 4 to level 2 (and i have the same as you at the bottom of the capturescreen in Edius 4 but that's nothing compare to the problems i had before.)

Hi Aristotelis. Thanks for the reply. Wow, you seem to have tested many hardware configurations!

The hardware acceleration with vegas really works, and I would not want to give it up, at least not right now. I think I will plod along with my existing setup for now, because there will be a new release of MB quite soon. Maybe it will support ATI cards as well as Nvidia so I'll wait until then to make my choice. In the meantime, I still have overlay of sorts and I don't need Xplode to run in RT because I don't use it. Thanks again.

    Well,
I have used the following boards with no problems on various DVX, NX and SP systems with no overlay problems

    ATI X300, X550, X700, X800, X1300, X1550, X1600, X1900, X1950 (MSI, ASUS, Saphire)
    NVidia 6600, 6800, 6800GT, 7800GT
    ....and maybe a few more....

I never noticed a difference when editing in Edius with these boards except that the ATI boards could do the Xplode Transitions in RT

As far as the Magic Bullet support in sony vegas I have no idea!
The only thing I can say is that I have tested the magic bullet suite within premiere pro with an Nvidia 6600 and its far from real time...

Hi Aristotelis. Thanks for the advice. The reason I'm using an Nvidia card is because it provides hardware acceleration of Magic Bullet Editors inside Sony Vegas. Do you have any other suggestions for a card that can do this and also play nice with the NX Express? The link below lists the cards supported by MB, but as you can see, it has not been updated for a while.

Any help you can provide will be much appreciated.

I will stick with my recommendation: nVidia 8800GT (for your future as well, it supports HDCP & Vista's DX10) or an nVidia 7950GT (with HDCP). Both are great cards.

Eventually everyone's going to move to Vista if they want to stick with the Windows OS...so the 8xxx series is a good recommendation.

  • Recommended PCIe graphics cards for Storm/NX/Edius set-up

Seems my Nvidia7600GS doesn't play well with the Storm/Edius and PPro set-up and overlay...Can someone recommeed any PCI-e cards that DON'T have overlay problems?
Working...
