  • Anyone know how to get a circular pix-in-pix?

Try as I might, I cannot get a circular (or elliptical) picture-in-picture. 2D, 3D - I don't really care! Or "combined effects"? Thought I was able to do it in PP, but not sure - it's been so long. Do it all the time in Photoshop. Anyone have a suggestion - for somehow I've got solve this one for a video presentation.
    Many thanks,

In Premiere 6,5 (I used it a long time ago) this could be done in 1 step.

With Edius you'll need 2 steps:

1, create a clip with the form you like e.g. circular with a transparent part outside the circle (several ways to do this, also check the posts on exporting / creating a clip with alpha) Basically create a clip with the mask you want to use of the same format and duration of the movieclip. In the bin convert these 2 clips to an alpha clip. (so any figure / form is possible)

2, use this clip with alpha in 3D PiP

Let me know if you need more explanation / more detail. (... and there are even more ways to do this)

1 you can do it in explode pro.
2 you can use a transition circular start stop at 50 %
3 you can also use the region filter if you need just part of the frame and then use the luminance key after you have sequenced in/out

Dirty, but animate-able way is to use elliptical Region filter to create a solid color outside "mask" then apply a Chroma or Luma key to that sequence.
