  • Export with Alpha Channel

Any tips if I can do this using Edius 4.5 as my editing tool? I'd like to create a 32 bit alpha channel video file from Edius to import into Flash 8 and minimize my final swf size. I know how to print file, export an flv, QT or whatever out of Edius, but I really wanted just my interview subject not the background (green screen.) I have Edius 4.5, Procoder 3, Flash 8 and CS3. Thanks.

At this point in time, Edius will allow alpha files within the project. The second you export the file, you loose alpha. If you have After Effects, use it for you alpha channel creation tool. You can create it using an HQ, or lossless file if you so desire. Just remember to check RBG+alpha.

      Bob,

If you bring your green screened footage into AE Pro you can utilize the 32 bpc functionality. Ditto what Jerry stated as well.

Thanks for the replies. So your suggestion would be to trim the green screen clip, correct audio, etc in Edius, save it as an uncompressed RGB avi, and import it into After Effects, apply the alpha channel, then save as an FLV? I guess I was trying to save the long rendering step saving to uncompressed RGB. But thanks.

Remember that in Chrominance, Chroma Key, and Luminance Key, you can click the "Show Key" box in the config. You can then export that grayscale AVI to use as a key elesewhere.
