Step through split screen

I'm fairly new to edius, coming from an older adobe premiere background. I want to do a seamless split screen, one side showing what's on track one, and the other what's on track two. I've tried using the region filter to get me where I'm going, but I can't seem to figure out transparency that will get my other clip to show through. Would anyone be willing to step me through this?

it depends on your purpose, there are many ways such as switching to multicam mode or using 3D PIP or the layout tool

once we know the purpose, we can suggest the best method

This time, I want to compare the video I imported through my ADVC300 with that I brought in straight from my tape player. I want to be able to see one version on the left, the other on the right. Rather than have both full scenes playing, I like to see the left half of one and the right half of the other. Hope this is understandable.

Use 3D PiP to crop the video on video track two. THat way yo9u will get the effect you are looking for :)

another way to compare video quality is to do a 50% wipe and hold the blind wipe, and stretch wipe on keyer track to full width of clip

Played with both methods, both work to do what I need. I find I toned the saturation down a bit too much on my second capture try, but otherwise the ADVC gave me a better picture to play with.

I prefer to use the Layout function's Crop... but to each his/her own. :)
