    Thanks!

Ok! I needed to reinstall windows so I proceeded all went well with install added 4 500 gig SATA drives to Highpoint Raid card 2310 and installed it

Windows prompted for drivers and install went well. Now The system will not Boot past the Raid card bios utility The blue screen that detects the hardware connected to the raid card.

The screen after this just goes blank with a blinking curser in top left corner
Also it is very hard to get into the M/B bios using the delete key it takes some rapid tapping and it does not always get you in. remove the raid or diable it and all is normal BUT NO RAID.

After a search in the FAQ on the Highpoint site I found this:

If I hit END on the keyboard the raid Bios check is bypassed and windows boots in the normal way - I can then access the raid via windows and the raid is operational! and **** fast it is too 225 - 257 mbs clean with a test utillity

But if I miss this then I have to reset pc.

Thry mention a flashing of the bios and disabling some features to overcome this but its a little out of my league I feel, do you have the same issue?

Is is maybe the drivers for mobo?

The highpoint site says its the inability fopr the raid controller driver to be loaded into memory?

I will say that if I hit the END key then the PC boots past the raid bios and proceedes to the Boot drive and the OS as normal

Then the Riad is accessable through windows....Its no great hardship is it But I am a little unsure of this as I do not want a weeks worth of work on a raid and it go wrong

It is set as a 2 TB raid 0 at the moment.............

        Thanks

Cathryn, the mistake was made when you loaded the driver for the raid controller during the Windows installation. That is only to be done if the Raid is the boot partition. I would have built the entire system without the raid controller even installed into the mainboard. After you have a basic up and running system should you start adding the extra components such as the raid controller, NX boards etc. Try deleting your raid 0 volume in the High Point bios utility and then uninstall the driver in the device manager. Get the system running completely with out it. Then try to reinstall it via the device manager. Do a completely manual installation. Do NOT let windows (recommended) install happen! Try this and see if you can boot your system directly to the "C" drive. You will then need to stripe a new array in High Point bios utility and then reformat it in disk manager. If this does not work there are ways we can discuss later.

              Cathryn,

When where you prompted by Windows? At which stage of the Windows install?

Yes, I use the driver that is in the box. I manuallly install it through device manager.

Yup! Ara, glad to hear that you will be there. Someone is going to win a system that night. The only qualifications are that you gotta be an NPVA member and be present at the entire meeting. ;)

I have spent a few days on this now and I had long hair to start with........I dont want to end up bald with stress related hair loss......

                    Anyway George I have just

                    1. deleted the raid
                    2. reinstalled windows XP SP2
                    3. reinstalled my video card drivers

SO I now have a working XP MACHINE as above ready for the raid to be setup!

                    I install 4 drives
                    install rocket raid 2310

                    and boot up

Machine boots into the rocket raid bios BLUE screen then says detecting devises

Then that goes off and machine goes to the ASUS splash screen and stays there..............

This is a reported problem on the highpoint website

                    I am a little lost.

                    any ideas

PS I have never installed the drivers at the windows install stage!

That is when windows promps you for 3rd party raid driver install I only installed the raid software from the cdrom one windows asked for it on the original install!

I did make a floppy disk though and tryed to install it that way first..........
                    On the first time round??

I do not know how this came about I have done so much since then.............

                      Cathryn,

I found the info that you where reffering to at the High Point site in the faq's.

Have you gone into the Asus mainboard bios and disabled all on-board raid? I do this as a first thing before I even load an OS. I disable raid (ie marvell or yukon), disable splash screen (I like seeing the post screens, where it says plug & play OS, I choose NO! Boot order I choose CD, hard disk (make sure this lists your actual "C" drive model #) disable all other boot options.

Try this and let me know.

I am running the very latest bios from Asus because I am running a QX9650. I think we even updated the bios on the 2310. I usually do this with most products.

Yes I still have this issue and as the system boots...... if while on this page Highpoint bios I press END then all is fine.

The system is a flyer 7 streams real time in HDV 1440 X 1080I HQ :-) and thats with an intel core 2 duo 3.0ghz q6850

I have a quad core on order and the core 2 duo will be in secondary machine

I WOULD LIKE TO RID myself of this boot problem though ANY ideas?

In the Highpoint RAID setup (Highpoint BIOS) - is the array marked as "BOOT" ?

That's gotta be it Brandon! I have done a few of these and never had this problem. If I had one here right now I would check it.
