Ahh, I see... you want to add a black matte to the clip.

There are two easy ways to do this:

1. Create a matte with alpha channel in Photoshop, etc, then add the matte on a video track above the video.
2. Add the Region filter to the clip, set the Outside Filter to Solid Color, and set the Solid Color to black.
   Drag the rectangle so the black outside area covers what you don't want to see.

The training videos on EDIUS Training might cover method #2. I don't remember if it does right now.
