  • Quadro FX SDI

Would using a Quadro FX SDI card have similar broadcast output properties to HD SDI monitors than the EDIUS HD turnkey?
    AMD Ryzen 9 5950X, RTX 3080, 64GB RAM, EDIUS X WG.

Unless the software has specific support for the card, it will be like duplicating the overlay out the TV-out, except in this case it's HD-SDI.

Not necessarily a lot of use for monitors, per-se, but...
The EDIUS HD turnkey (without MIP) has timecode on the HD-SDI.
The EDIUS HD turnkey (with MIP) does hardware up/down-scaling and of course supports a number of other I/Os.

Right, so with EDIUS software installed and the Quadro FX SDI, it would be no better than a dual DVI card and if you used a DVI-HDSDI converter you would have the same thing.

        AFAIK, that's correct.
Only variable between the two would be the colorspace conversion in the DVI-HDSDI converter.

hehe, I'd consider that if it wasn't turnkey only- already have a workstation more powerfull.

Well, still running with Quadro XF-1300, but need some more powerfull display adapter for dual DVI 1920 screens HD editing.

                    1. Quadro FX series ?
                    2. ATI Fire GL series ?
                    3. ATI Radeon HD series ?

What would be dream adapter for NX HD editing..
                    Supermicro 2x Quad-core 5450 3GHz, intel 5000X, 12GB RAM, 12TB, Edius 6.5 HDSpark, Win8, 3x24" Samsungs, E-Mu 1616, Nvidia FX3700
                    Sony Z1 & F-350, Canon 1D X, Panasonic HPX 3000 + Amphibico housing- Inspiration Vision Trimix.

For use with Edius there is no difference between the ATI cards Both the Radeon and Fire GL work well but the extra expense of the FireGL is not worth it.
I cannot comment on the Quadro as I have not tried it but I have had a lot of problems with the nvidea 8800GT series.
I acquired the FireGL because the Radeon worked really well and hoped the FireGL would work better with Boris but no, even though the FireGL cards are listed on the Boris site it still reports incompatible, i suspect insufficient texture memory which is a surprise.
The problem may be a left over from the other cards that have been in but all were unloaded before the other placed in, Oh well it was a nice try.
The other problem with the More expensive FireGL cards is they take up 2 bays leaving no room for an NX and daughter board! I suspect the same for some of the Quadro's

Quadro FX3450 here and working well together. But EDIUS doesn't care about Open GL at all, you only get a benefit out of it if you are using programs such as After Effects, Combustion, Lightwave, Cinema4D etc.
Have built a few with QuadroFX 1500 that work just as strong with EDIUS and these are half the price.
                        AMD Ryzen 9 5950X, RTX 3080, 64GB RAM, EDIUS X WG.

Only the high end QuadroFX cards eg FX4500 are twin slots, my 3450 is single slot like the cheaper ones too, thus can be used with NX.

Thank's.. I desided to try ATI File GL5600.. anyway it has 512 memory compared to 128 FX1300..

I'll tell You results of comparison then..

****.. 5600 was manufactured by HP and not compatible with my supermicro..getting serious error black screen..

by changing Nvidia FX1300 to ATI Fire GL5600, not any significant rendering performance change.. Anyway now can see fullHD on full screen due to more memory; 128 to 512MB DDR4.

                              So, happy anyway

Finally decided to have Nvidia FX 3700 board.. ATI was manufactured by HP and did not work on Supermicro..
