...plus support for the GV Infinity camera. Other than that it is said to include some minor (unspecified) bug fixes. That is what I was told on the GV stand.
        DVC laptop: W870CU i7; 17.3" 1920x1080; 2x 1TB 7200rpm SATA notebook drives; Edius 8.5WG; Windows 7.

jpeg2000 (infinity's format) is already supported in Edius Broadcast...but the implementation is not very good...no RT at all...
I hope that this is fixed in 4.6

Getting realtime native JPEG 2000 100mbit full frame HD editing is a big ask on any platform. There is only so much multithreading optimisation that can be made, before you hit a physical computational wall.

What 4.6 does, is let you take advantage of Infinity JPEG 2000's bitlayering capability - essentially, proxy-like data is embedded in all JPEG 2000 streams. You can switch this on between the three levels (low, medium, high/full). What it will do is play back at a lower quality in realtime, but when paused, display the full quality frame.

This function in 4.6 makes realtime native Infinity JPEG 2000 much easier.

            Other 4.6 features:

            - New Infinity Ingest tool (works much like P2 Select) (Broadcast only)
            - Native XDCAM EX import/editing (Broadcast only)
            - Updated native MPEG exporters (all support speed encoding automatically if capable - except for PCE of course)
            - Very minor UI improvements
            - Standard round of bug fixes

It will be released some time next month.

              Does that mean February?

Last I knew, February is the next month right after January.

Yeah, I know. But today being Jan 31st and February being only 28 days. A comment like "should be ready within the next thirty days" leaves march as the more likely.

Not that there is anything wrong with that ;)

A solid release is better than hitting a date!

4.54 is a good release and with the EX1 gaining such popularity, and HD-DVD finally fading off into history. I am looking forward to building Edius Broadcast based systems with Blu-Ray burners for many EX1 owners.

The circle of acquisition, post production, delivery medium and end user playback is finally closed. Now it is the tweaking of our tools that will drive this momentum.
