That would certainly be an advantage. Just a simple and smallest laptop that has a Blu-Ray burner and express card slot. Just keep rotating and offloading those SxS cards.

    4.375 MB/Sec. = 262.5 MB/Min. = 15.38 GB/Hr.

    Try this

Are you talking about all files as they come from the camera or just a completed (edited) project? At the best quality setting on the XDCAM EX (35mbits) what are the GB/hour of video?

I just got a look at the first footage shot in the hdv format 1440x1080i. I sure looked awesome. It was not a real good test however, I had good light (Sun came out in Mississippi for a while) Just as soon as it quits raining down here I am going to shoot in the full HD mode to make a comparison.

The transfer using the express card reader Installed in the desktop was easy and quick. I think that I will be saving a lot of time by not having to capture in my projects this next year.

With 4.6 installed, EDIUS will see the XDCAM EX Clip software, and let you call it up from the "Capture" menu (same as running it from the Windows Start menu).

From the EX software, just drag and drop clips into the bin, regardless of where they are stored.

As Mark said, you can currently convert to MXF for editing, but v4.6 will add direct MP4 wrapper decoding, and a full-frame 24p preset (for OHCI).

Its not that hard really, using V1.1 of SONY's clip browsing software you just move the files to hard drive, then select them all, right click> mxf- done, EDIUS can use them.

Edius and Sony EX XDCAM work flow

I just shot some test clips with the new EX. I know that there is no support for the EX presently in Edius 4.54 pro but thought that there was a work around in 4.54 broadcast.

In the new version of Edius BC will we be able to just copy the clips from the Express card to the HD and then begin the edit or will we still have to import them into the EX Clip Browsing Software?

I have an express card reader installed in my desktop editing station and I can see the clips and copy them but Edius will not recognize them in 4.54 BC.

    Thanks

    Ronnie
