Does anyone know if Edius will allow the SonicFirePro SmartSound plug in?

NO ... I don't think so. You have to run SonicFire Pro as a separate application.

You cannot run SonicFire Pro inside EDIUS. You must run it OUTSIDE EDIUS - as a separate application.

Cool. It's a great app plugin. Just mark in - mark out, open SmartSound, then pick the tune you want, and "accept" and it's in the audio track of your selection AND modifiable in length and song complete with auto-outtro wind down.

Are there any other apps like it that are Edius compliant/friendly?

An even better solution guys, get Sonicfire Pro 4, from memory you get 2 free music disks when you buy, export an AVI of your project with voice over etc.
Import the video into Sonicfire and adjust the music / length for the video.
The latest "STRATA" series music has mood mapping which allows you to add / remove instruments to effectively change the overall volume / mix over voice overs.
From what I have seen the plug ins for editing programs do not have this feature

We love SonicFire Pro 4. We use it in our Avid Liquid Pro. It's a sweet plug in app and we have lots of music for it. Everytime they have some 'special' we take advantage. 3 does the strata thing too. You can even use the parts and pieces that make up a given song and then make your own solos and set the music to the frame mood. It's pretty sweet for sue.
