To convert DVD into AVI I always use ‘WinAvi video converter 9’, it can convert entire DVD in Canopus HQ format in less than 20 mins.

for best headache free results, capture from DVD player via S-Video if you have the NX or Component if you have the SP

by doing the above, you will have perfect format for editing and the audio will be in perfect sync

    Thanks for your input!

I've got about 20 DVD's (the only source material available) to recut and I wanted to save as much time as poss, rather than convert to avi.

I had hoped I could rip (disc capture), cut(mp2 on timeline) and export (mp2x2 yuk) - I guess not !

Id welcome any work-arounds or wise comments!
    Thanks
    Nobby

MPEG is a distribution format. It is not meant as intermediate (for editing) format. I wonder why you would want to put MPEG on the timeline for? Long GOP, CPU going skyhigh decoding MPEG ... why kill yourself unnecessarily? Just convert it to Canopus HQ and your CPU will thank you for it.

your luck with mpeg on timeline may vary

in my case, I no longer use mpeg on timeline, it is too sluggish and I know what you mean by audio out of sync

    Mpeg2 audio sync out?

After the success of my last post im going to chance my luck again!

Any mpeg 2 file I play in time line or in the player has out of sync audio?
I've tried all sorts of different project settings and still no luck - every other file plays okay?

I know the mpeg is okay as I created it...

Again, over to the wise ones.
    Thanks for reading.

    Nobby.
Working...
