  • Mpeg 2 Audio Issues

I've been caputuring video in mpeg2 and it plays fine on everything. But, when I pull these clips into Edius I can only see the video. There is no audio.

I've tried looking under the clip properties and there simply is no audio tab.

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I'm sure there's a simple solution to this, but I can't figure it out.

Thanks in advance for helping a newbie!

Did you put the MPEG2 clips under the "V" row? It should under the "VA" row.

      yes,

it is under the VA row. The problem is, though, it doesn't give me audio in preview... so, I can't see how it would matter, then, which row it goes in. But, it is in the VA row.

It matter a lot what type of track you put it in. If you put a clip with video and audio into an audio track, you'll only get the audio there. Likewise if you put it in a video track, you'll only get the video there.

The question is what kind of audio is in the MPEG... Try using GSpot on it.

          Help! Still not working

Gspot says the audio is MPEG-1 Layer 2 (0xc0:48000Hz 192 kb/s tot , Joint Stereo)

I can't understand why these files play on everything except Edius. Any ideas?

Hmm... If you right-click the clip in the Bin does it show an Audio tab?

              Nope

no, that's the crazy part. The clip has audio when it plays elsewhere, but when it's in the Edius Bin, it has no audio tab.

Can you run ProCoder Express for EDIUS in standalone mode (run it from Start Menu) and transcode the file to something else?

Essentially I want to know if ProCoder Express for EDIUS can "see" the audio on the file.

BTW: Where'd this file come from?

Sometimes, though, there is an audio tab

when that happens, the audio is very low... and distorted... full of static.

Can you post the file somewhere or send it via YouSendIt or RapidShare? I'd like to take a look.

                      Of course!

Thanks you. What email would you like me to send it to?
