  • Quicktime DVCProHD in Edius?

I got quciktime files (mov) that are converted P2 files in DVCProHD. Edius is supposed to read this, but I get an error message when trying to import. Do I need any additional stuff or is Edius not able to see these files.
In After Effects the same files get imported with audio and only white-video.

Which version of Edius are you using? Is it Edius Broadcast?

To be honest, I've yet to see working DVCPRO HD Quicktime files working under Windows.

I honestly don't know if it's possible. (considering that the QT decoder is a free download)

Maybe the original P2 files should be used.

How was the original MOV file created in the first place? That should give us a hint - if it originates from a MAC running FCP, I think you have trouble reading that file. I tried it - and gave up.

I have personally worked with DVCProHD QuickTime files in Edius Broadcast 4.5x that originated on a Mac.

What is the error that you are getting? Can you post a link to a small sample?

Interesting. You got that working. I would like to know what you did right that I didn't.

Here's a test file exported out of FCP.

                    Give it a try :)

quicktime pro in windows does not open that file. Tells you extra software is needed and sends you to the developers page. :)

YIP Edius said can't load file .
But that is what I expected. I would have been pleasantly surprised if it did. :)
It could be that I am doing something wrong. :)

I'm at the office at the moment, but I'll try your file when I get home.

As I stated before, QuickTime Player for Windows will not play DVCProHD QuickTime files, at least not the video. You should be able to hear the audio if it is in a supported format, but the video will be all black. If you press Ctrl-I to bring up the movie information dialog, it should tell you which codecs are being used.

QT for Windows will not play DVCPRO HD QT files.

EDIUS Broadcast (must be Broadcast), however, should be able to load them - it magically unwraps the QT and uses the Canopus HD codec for decoding.

Saw the color bars, at least on my machine (EDIUS Broadcast v4.54)
