    Aloha Fellas,

Here are some ideas and I'm sure you guys have tried before.

I have noticed that if I render at a really high bit rate 10k then let the DVD authoring software (Encoder or DVD-it Pro) down render it (9k~) comes out pretty good. Its still not super crisp but that helps a lot.

I also us anti-flicker and color balance (saturation +2 contrast +3).

Also I have found in the past (not sure if this is still valid) to burn the DVDs a little slower 4X.

    Blessings,
    Frederick

Have you tried the Old Movie filter with everything unchecked except Deinterlace?

agreed.. tried them once no difference..
even antiflicker make it nicer a 'bit'...just a 'bit'...

Yes, the deinterlace helped the situation in Premiere 6.5, but like you say, no change when its applied in Edius.

it looks like there is problem with deinterlace

add a clip on timeline and apply 20% slomo on a clip with pan or person walking sideways

try deinterlace always and then try none

    there is no difference

i learnt from past project...NEVER do fast pan unless u really need it.
i also hate that drag effect since the beginning of SD editing...don't know if the HD still has this bug...i use 1080i (FX1) n this drag still exist maybe in 720p or 1080p we will not face this anymore...

I did not suggest that your shots were shaky. I suggested that you try DeShaker to steady the "drag effect or focal stuttering" in your slowed footage.

That is just the way it is, best thing to do is pan very fast or very slow, you are right in the middle that is why it looks that way.

Well it's not that my shots are shaky. The pan looks fine in reg motion, it's just when it's slowed does it show the drag effect.

Just tried that...the default was bottom field...top field and progressive made it even worse. :(

i did some experiment with 'video properties'(right click of the mouse) change to bottom field..topfield or progressive...and wala.. i could do slo-mo on a close up of a dove flying by ...in 5-10%speed !!... without 'drag' or jittering.
sometimes it works sometimes don't ;) depends on the camera setting perhaps

Anti flicker was tried and made no difference.

Does anyone know if shooting in HDV or DVCAM mode will make an difference in the quality of pans put in slow motion?

Or any other solutions for it in general?
