  • Mainboard and CPU für Edius SP (Edius 5.0)

    Hi,

do you know any (Dual / Quad) Xeon-Mainboard (Intel, Supermicro), which is compatible with both Edius NX PCIe und Edius SP?

Which CPU ist suggested for them? At the moment I am still using NX PCIe for HDV with Bay. As first step in direction SP I would upgrade my workstation. As second step I buy a SP for HDV.

At the moment I would use only a dual Xeon CPU. The board should be however compatible with Quad-Xeon CPUs just to being able to make futher upgrades in the future.

Is it possible that Edius 5.0 comes out in 2008. I hope that the hardware I buy now will be still compatible with the new version. :-)

    Thank you for your help.

    Regards,

    Istvan

Check out the Intel MOBO in my signature. It works very well and there are a couple more of the same basic board that also work well.

If what you get now works with present day Edius, then it will work with 5.0 when it comes out. I would say it is very possible that 5.0 will be out this year but I have not heard of any projected date at all. NAB in April is usually a good time to get news on future projections.

I don't like to make promises of the future until I can actually see it on the horizon.

        @pjsssss:

You have anyway an NX. Is your Equipment with Edius SP compatible as well?

It would be a vital information for me.

Edius 5.0: It would be pretty good to buy the SP already with the new version.

        Regards,

          Hi Pat

where did you find the extra PCIe slot required for the NX extension board? or do you have the older type extension board that is no longer available?

when I built the last BX, I was lucky to get an extension board with the PCI connector, this allowed me to use the supermicro board

I wish supermicro would hurry up and bring out mobos with spare PCIe slots

btw, the SP board will work perfect in Supermicro, it does not need PCIe, it uses PCIX and PCI and there are plenty PCIX slots

              I thought so

problem is that GV no longer sell these, so the Supermicro boards at this stage won't hold the new NX boards

Both true & untrue. They keep changing their minds for some reason.
                  It can be ordered.

                      Hi,

                      -------------------------
"Getestet wurde mit den PCIe Varianten unserer Canopus Hardware: SP-SDI, NX PCIe, Pegasus und mit der DVX als 32 Bit Karte.

                      Intel DG33FBC (Intel G33 Chipsatz)

                      Asus P5K-V (Intel G33 Chipsatz)

                      Asus P5K DELUXE WiFi-AP (Intel P35 Chipsatz)

                      Asus P5K64 WS (Intel P35 Chipsatz) "
                      -------------------------

This quoting is from the german GV-forum. It is saying that all these MBs were tested with GV Hardware "SP-SDI, NX PCIe, Pegasus und DVX".

In this case all these boards should be ok with the "normal" SP as well, isn´t it?

Could it be correct? I think SP and SP-SDI should have the same hardware-requirements. I would choose one of these boards with a single Quad-Core CPU. (about 4 x 2,66 Ghz). Do you have any idea about the right one?

                      Regards,

                      I.

There is no EDIUS 5.0 yet...
As for specifications, the EDIUS SP-SDI hardware uses 1 PCI Express slot and 1 32-bit PCI slot.
The EDIUS SP hardware uses 1 64-bit PCI slot and 1 32-bit PCI slot.

Dear Brandon ... about your hint and "google" outside from GV-Thomson in the .www >> I know the new PCIe Card

The document/file requested was not found on this server.

but inside from GV-Thomson ?? I am to old\blind\idiotic men to find SP-SDI on his correct place ??

Hans - the EDIUS SP-SDI is not offered separately in all regions across the world, only in some.

For those countries not selling it as components+software, it is only available within a turnkey system, or, you purchase the older PCI-X version (as components).

Because it is not universally available outside a turnkey, it does not appear on the Web site. I hope this makes sense.
