  • Playback stopped and no audio while scrubbing

I just upgraded to Edius NX with expansion kit and loaded Edius 4.52. When I play the timeline it continuously stops with "Playback stopped" error message and I have no audio whith playback. I have reinstalled all the programs. After first installation, it worked for a couple of hours. Dunno if I accidentally changed a setting. Please help.

Barry, the audio might be because you have not setup the on card audio cable to the sound card. Remember all audio will be processed by the EDIUS card and if you dont have it routed to the sound card it won't work- or you can output the audio from the back of the card (or NX bay) to a monitor with speakers using RCA cables etc.

What are you playing back when you have the video stopping and what are the project settings?

You may need to swap PCI-X slots of the baseboard, when I setup my system it did same thing until i moved the board to another slot.

Thanks Mark. I have S-video output to monitor but the monitor does not see it and RCA output from the bay to same monitor with same result. The project is set to HDV 1440x1080, audio 48000hz and rendering format uncompressed (YUY2) AVI. Will look at swapping slots on Monday. I had the cards put in but I have the installation manual. I'm not very technical.

HDV 1440x1080 project only provides video and audio at the component out optional board, do you have this board?

S-Video and composite will be dead in any HD project, this is normal

You put me on the right track Mark. My project settings was wrong. Output device is set to Generic OHCI HD 50Hz, Output format 1440x1080 50i 48Khz 2Ch and rendering format is set to Mpeg(Hdv). It all works now but is it the best setting for editing HDV?

You might also want to increase the buffer setting for when you are using your new hardware:

                Settings > Hardware Settings > NHX-E1
