  • Buffering Problem Edius 7.53

When playing or editing timeline clips my system stops and loads very often. I see the buffer is reading 4/5 or 5/5. I changed my buffer setting from 1GB Playback Buffer Size to 2GB. My buffered frames setting is at 10 frames. I have unticked the video filter in multi-cam mode. Nothing seems to work.

    Any suggestions please?

My audio mixer is not running to my knowledge unless I open it. Where would I locate the settings to confirm?

I was referring to it being displayed (opened) or not.

What files are you editing. What drives are they on.

I am currently editing a multi-cam event that is on the PC main drive (the drive is only 10% full), however I was editing a photo montage that was on an external drive and had the same issues.

Is the buffer supposed to be at 4/5 and 5/5? Seems very low.

When the audio mixer has a track, or track setting active you will see the 5/5 setting. Also, this setting will display during multicsm sessions.

So if the 5/5 is normal, this is not causing my system to freeze every time it does an automatic save? Is it a RAM problem maybe?

Exit multicam and play a file. Take a screen shot of the Edius timeline screen. Is the buffer full?

Playback performance when in multicam will be determined by the performance of your system and subsystems. The buffer readout will always be based on 5/5. A slower system may read 3/5 or lower.
As I said, this is also the case with the mixer being active and not just visible.

When in multicam mode, do you already have effects applied? If so, disable then within multicam.

this is normal.. I still use 7.53.. your editing many clips at once and if they are HD or above you will have issues playing it back in real time.
if this issue has just happened than I suggest checking your power options in the control panel. should be set to high performance.
