So now I have the full Edius install done on a new computer which runs a 3900X 12 core 32gb ram Raid 0 ssd's for video and a GTX1660.

This system was put together for photography and design work - but I'm doing tests to see what this cheap AMD processor will do.

One niggle at the moment is when Edius UI opens it has a lot of nasty white edges - just like it does when it runs low on ram - or used to. Also opening the layouter is not clean - again white edges for a moment.

    any thoughts on this?

    Paul :-)

I only encountered this while using windows 7 and it was the display driver in my case.

There is a choice of game or studio driver for the GTX cards. I am using the studio driver on my system. Maybe download and install and see if it makes a difference. By default I think the game driver would be installed.

        Hi Ron,

I have the studio driver installed anyway - it's quite like the old win 7 issue, I'm surprised to see it on this new build.

I'm going to pull the graphics driver and re install - I'll also try a different earlier version - you never know.

I'm running a test edit right now - 4k with Sony AX700 files - using MB Looks - soft focus - PCC - CPU not over 60C and it ramps up to 4.5 Ghz when pushed - very smooth edit experience - I imagine swapping out to a 3950X with 16 cores would help too! but the 3900 with 12 cores is so cheap it really makes sense - unless you're desperate for quick sync.

        thanks Ron..

Is it the same monitor? Have you tried different inputs to the monitor?

Appears to make no difference what monitors I use - tested with different graphic drivers - same result - also changed windows visual settings - no effect either. Maybe its the slow GTX 1660 - it's not really a big deal but I thought I'd seen the last of this old school behaviour!
