  • Asus P5K Delux work with DVStorm2 ??

Hello all. I have searched all posts and still can find no definite answer from anyone actually using the Asus P5K board and a DVStorm2 card. Building a new system with the new Q9550 45nm processor, 4 GB COrsair, hopefully an Asus P5K Delux and XP Pro. No Vista for sure. Is there anyone of you who are actually either using or know someone for sure who is using a DVStorm2 card with this motherboard successfully? Knowingly, I will have to probably buy an NX card down the line if I continue to edit SD material, but since HD is now my main thing, my DVStorm card, IF it works, will probably hold me through SD. Whatayathink guys? Appreciate any responses. Best always - Alan

PS - Hey Pat, aren't you due out here in a week or so? Email me.

      Hi Kenneally,

Many thanks for the input. I did research this board on the compatibility list a long time ago as you suggested, and although the listing stated it was compatible with SD/HD editing, the entry didn't specify compatibilty with the DVStorm2 board in particular. That's why I was inquiring if anyone actually had any REAL experience with this combination.

A belated Happy new Year to you, and again my thanks.
      Best, Alan

        Thanks Alan.

The section on PCI 32-bit boards for SD editing essentially encompasses the DVStorm to some degree (given the relationship it has with EDIUS DVX). It just has not been officially certified/tested. That's because the product is no longer covered in any way (warranty, development, etc).

Intel X38 chipset compatible with storm2 cards?

          Hi Kenneally,

Does the P5E3 Deluxe/[email protected] with the new intel X38 chipset work with storm2?
This type mainboard doesn't appear in the compatibility list.

              AJ,

I would get the NXExpress Card. It is well worth the upgrade.

You get True Firewire, and you have component out so when you are working with HD you can see the output. :)
