Those types of transitions are also often referred to as organic transitions.

Edius does not have these kinds of transitions in it's native tool set, so you would have to rely on a 3rd party transition package or a VFX package like AE or Boris FX/RED.

You may be able yo use custom organic transition mattes as well to simulate this effect in Edius by applying it to two layers of video and inverting the key on one of them, similar to the way you would do it manually in a VFX package but I have never tried it directly in Edius to see how to do it or if it is possible.
Edius WG 9.52.6153, various 3rd party plugins, VisTitle 2.8.0.5, Win 7 Ultimate SP1, i7-4790K @ 4GHz with HD4600 GPU embedded, MSI Z97 Gaming 7 Motherboard, 32GB Kingston HyperX RAM, nVidia GTX680 4GB GPU, Matrox MX02 Mini MAX, Corsair 750W PSU, Corsair H110i GT Water Cooler, Corsair C70 case, 4TB Internal RAID 0/stripe (2x2TB Seagate SATAIII HDD's, Win7 Software RAID 0/stripe), 1TB Crucial MX500 SSD, Pioneer BDR-207D, Dual 1920x1080 monitors (one on GTX680 and one on Intel HD4600).

Correct you are Kurt, but the OP was asking to to create something similar in Edius if I am not mistaken. I have seen some users post custom transition that they have made, to replicate some of the eye candy type spins, pans, morphs and whirls that some people have been asking about, which suggests to me that this organic/ink transition may be able to be simulated in edius with a little playing around, and hence why I suggest the double layer alpha matte inversion technique above, I just have never tried it in Edius. Even just a single upper layer could work, but once again I have not tried it in Edius natively.

New Blue FX may have a couple of effects that might suit your needs.
Take a look there. Sapphire or Continuum would probably have it, but that would be very expensive

You could try the alpha transitions. It's not going to be an exact match, but you can choose from various patterns. If you find an alpha pattern you like from another source, it may be compatible with Edius.

Take a look at the video and see if either is close for your needs.

Ok now I know what You mean.
I use for such transition Alpha Custom map.
                On the tab Alpha map
I choose a bit map like waves or sand or another picture with a rough structure, and with the sharpness control I set the effect the way I wanted.
It's not a "moving " trans. bud I have made some nice transitions with.
It's not as "nice" as the New Blue FX,bud it's home made and a lot cheaper !
It would be a great progress if in the next version off Edius this would work with *.mp4 or another moving source !.
