animated line in Edius

  • animated line in Edius

    I filmed a drone (with my drone) following an automated pattern. I want to clearly show the path with an animated line. Is ther any way to do this in Edius?
    1st System - win 10 pro, [email protected], 32Gb RAM, 250Gb 960EVO SSD, 3x1TB as Raid0 (backed up to Raid5 server), NVIDIA GTX 1060 6Gb, Edius 9.5
    2nd system - win 7 Ult, [email protected], 32Gb RAM, INTEL SSD 240Gb, 2x2tb as Raid0 (backed up to raid5 server), NVIDIA GTX 660, Edius 9.5
    3rd system - win 7, i7, Edius 6.5 & pluraleyes (I keep it just for syncing projects (long story)

    You can draw the path as a graphic and then use the cropping in layouter or the mask tool to keyframe and reveal the line you drew, but you may have to do this across several layers to the moving crop borders don't chew into parts you already revealed.

    A better solution is if you have Vistitle, Boris FX/RED, After Effects, or pretty much any other VFX or animation software you can animate a path properly.

              I started thinking about it. Why do we have to do the whole thing in the mask if we have Quick Titler

                You cannot animate the line in QT and you cannot do curved lines, only straight ones with sharp joins.

                  Yeah, of course mask is needed for animation. But "drawing" curves should be added to QT. Anyway thanks David for the idea :)

                    You can do this a lot better and easier with VisTitle. My video was just trying to show how to do it with the things EDIUS has already. I originally made a video on how to achieve this with Vistitle which you can see here:

                      Or with Heroglyph but I don't do it very often. Anyway... it's nice that we can do it in Edius if we have an urgent need.
