  • Edius seems to have come down with a bug

    Hi All,

My Edius seems to have a bit of a bug. When I upgraded to 9.51 wg, every once in a while, the system would freeze up and give me the message....Edius is not responding...Close the program or wait for the program, to respond. After a minute it would come back on line.

I also have Edius 8 wg installed and it does the same thing....
Now it does it constantly on both....Can anyone help?

    Thanks in advance,
    Dano

make sure you have exception set in your virus scanner for the the following folders:
          C:\ProgramData\Grass Valley\*
          C:\Program Files\Grass Valley\*
          C:\Users\[insert user name here]\AppData\Roaming\Grass Valley\*
and your video media drive (in my case it is R:\*)

This keeps a virus scanner from interfering with edius. If you say you have no virus scanner installed, I don't believe you unless you also say you have Windows Defender disabled, as it is a virus scanner, so it needs those same exceptions set.

Also if you didn't have your virus scanner disabled when installing Edius (yes this also included windows defender), it is possible that the virus scanner may have interfered with the install. Disable the virus scanner and install again to ensure edius gets a 100% correct install. I have experienced this issue once or twice before when I forgot to disable my virus scanner, but it does not always cause a problem. This is a recommended step in the edius install instructions.

The next question is, have you changed or installed anything new? If you are running Win10, the Win10 forced updates can cause problems. I'd recommend going through the Win10 config document that Jerry has posted in his signature to try to avoid these forced update problems.

              Hi and thank you BernH

The virus scan was already set to allow edius to operate.

Window 10: I have shut off from updating.

I will try uninstalling and then reinstalling with the virus detection turned off and check Jerry's windows 10 tips..

              Thank you

Just so you know, I haven't updated my Win 10 tips for 1909. Some of the procedures have changed since I updated.

I see lots of Windows update attempts and failures

                        Do the following:
                        1. go to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download and delete everything inside the Download folder
                        2. Run Windows updates several times until there are no more updates, even select optional updates
                        3. reboot and empty appdata/local/Temp

                        see how EDIUS works

also, unplug any USB storage device because I see a few issues
