  • Which Laptop works with NEO?

What is a good choice for a NEO based field HDV editing machine?

Is MAC a choice to consider?

Is SAS necessary for HD work or does SerialATA work well enough?

Will NEO support the mp4 files from the Sony EX1?

The specs would be the same as for EDIUS Pro or Broadcast... The faster the better. :)

We do not officially support it but there seems to be folks that seem to be using EDIUS in a MAC with good results.

The speed requirements for HD are universal... Fast as possible. Wit that said I am using a SATA Raid and I am getting the results I need.

I think I will let KH or BH answer this one as I do not have the answer for this.

Neo won't support EX1 - you need EDIUS Broadcast.

Given that Neo doesn't support any GV editing hardware boards, there shouldn't be any issues running it on a Bootcamped Mac, whether running XP or Vista.

MacBookPro (2.8 GHz dual) card reader supports SxS cards from EX1 but you say I still need the GV Broadcast card to make the files work in Edius, which on a MacBookPro can be problematic!
Any idea if EX1 files will ever be supported on a software only Edius version?

Edius Broadcast can run without hardware. It's essentially the same as the Pro, except that the dongle carries a few licenses (ingest) for XDCAM, P2, etc. support.

So yes, if you have a laptop and upgrade to Edius Broadcast, you can pop in the SxS cards (If you have an ExpressCard slot) and fire up Edius Broadcast and start editing right away.

            EDIUS Broadcast is software-only.
