is this when trying to open an existing project? if so, have you copied all needed plugins from 8 to 9?

I think EDIUS 9.4 should be out today from what was said in Las Vegas

No, it's in the moment when the project list screen appears.

Yes, I will wait for version 9.40. The most important thing for me in version 9 will be the ProRes-export functionality, so version 8 is good enough until then. ;)

I see lots of your projects with 16 channel audio, what would be the logical purpose of that?

Oh, it is needed for feature films which often come along with 5.1 and 2.0 audio.
Most feature films are getting german dubbed audio too (5.1 + 2.0) and some are getting a spoken track for the visual impeared.
In last case I need even 18 audio channels. For VoD delivieries I embed all the audio channels to the final master.
I pass the audio tracks through all the sequences.

when EDIUS 9 crashes, let it create a system report and attach it
also, in the Temp folder you will find an EDIUS crash dump file, zip it and attach

I have no clue, nothing specific, just updating the system.
My auto-update function was disabled for a long time.

Edius used to crash on me just like you are saying when I had my lexar card reader plugged into the computer. If I unplugged it then it would open normally. With it plugged in Edius would go to the start screen then the project screen would flash on for a fraction of a second and then the dialog, " this program is not working" would pop up. I think I updated the driver for the card reader and that fixed it but not sure.
