It's installed at the beginning when Edius 9 installer does it's thing but it did not remove it for some reason during un-installation.

I did un-install Edius 9 before and did not encounter this issue, can't explain what happened, but there it is....
fancy that, a Microsoft Visual CC 2017 should not prevent installation, that is something GV need to take a look at

I assume GV is aware of this as this was the first and only solution the distributor e-mailed me...

E-mail reply came very fast, so again, I assume that I'm not the only one who has faced this in the past as it seems a readily available solution that they are aware of.

Anyways, I'm happy that I'm up and running again, have a great weekend ahead :)

the real question is what program installed VCC 2017 and what program is now missing it?

No real question, it was Edius WG 9...

I think the systems you build are too fast for you to see but in the first couple of seconds of the installation of Edius WG 9, the information window show the installation of the VVC 2017.

I just upgraded Edius to 9.40 and saw the installation of the file that previously gave me problems to install version 9.30

I started to doubt myself already but this is conformation that i haven't lost my marbles yet and that Edius itself does install MS Visual C++2017 Redistributable, this explains that GV support had a quick fix...

I opened a couple of projects and saved them under a different name, just to be sure.
Time line plays fine, also did some cuts, no issues.

I haven't hooked up my Matrox yet so can't conform that its working.

not without hacking it, and the hack requires that you use Win7

but I believe that you will be able to use Matrox AV tools to capture once they fixed the issue that EDIUS 9.31 and later can't open any Matrox AV tools captured files

That would be fine, once that is working.
I can also consider installing Edius 8 to capture, if that wouldn't break Edius 9

Preview out to TV is still working... right ?

that won't work, once 9.40 is installed, there is nothing you can do in order to capture in EDIUS8 (I tried it all)

you can only get it to work with version 7 Matrox drivers and a little hack if you have Win7

Win10 does not work with version 7 Matrox drivers at all

                            Hmmm.....

Can I force Matrox ver 7 drivers on Win 10 ?

Then for my case a second bootable SSD with Win 10 and Edius 8 and Matrox ver 7 drivers for temporarily use would be workable, Win 7 can't run on this laptop.

Hopefully the Matrox avi files are able to use in Edius soon.

yes, you need Win7 at this stage, or wait a bit
I have no idea why they had to break Matrox capture with 9.31 and later when it worked perfect in 9.30 and earlier
it is like if a Win10 update would stop EDIUS from working
