maybe time for a clean Win10 install?

Don't have to worry regarding Ccleaner, I use it over 10 years with no issues.
Anyways, I only used it to scan for left overs, I always un-install using windows control panel, so that should not be an issue here.

A clean windows install with the amount of software and tuning will take several days and would like to avoid that.
With my desktop system I have drive clones, unfortunately with my laptop I don't have any.

Then there is the question does a format of my boot drive get rid of this issue or am i going to waste 2 or more days...

    Still hoping for other solution.

maybe Spybot is preventing the installation

in any case, I have a feeling something from an old EDIUS is still present in appdata or program data or program files or program files x86

Hmmmm, never took that in consideration.
I always disable realtime protection from all things windows security (what is possible at least) and only then install Edius.

I have never disabled anything else before, and as spybot and malewarebytes are not premium versions meaning no real-time protection, it never occured to me that it could interfere, then again, every new version could have a different behavior.

At this time I'm willing to try almost anything so I will switch it off and try to install again.

                Will report back later...

                    No go...

Un-installed anything pointing at Edius like plug-ins etc.
All windows and external AV protection disabled.
Rechecked everything GV related folders according to your list.

Emptied both tmp & temp folders.

I have send an e-mail to my Edius distributor in Holland, lets see if they can offer any solution.

Anton, thank you very much so far for your help...

not sure then, maybe the installer sees Canopus Imaginate as an issue? I doubt it but anything is possible

you don't have an early Win10 Image you can try? I make one every month just for cases like this

I have always practiced back up image, but since i'm currently using a laptop i feel a bit crippled, not the freedom from a desktop system.

I still have an older ssd lying around, i will setup windows and Edius 9 for temporary use while i leave my main boot untouched.

I will wait for my distributor because i'm quite curious what the cause of this is.
Taking the easy way out and format all is always a last option to consider...

I am beginning to wonder if your laptop is too old for Win10? why did you install it?

The reason for this comment is that you use a laptop with an express card slot for your Matrox, such laptops have vanished a long time ago, at least here

Express card is indeed hard to find, but I did, that's one of the reasons I bought this unit.

My laptop is a high-end workstation released either end of 2017 or early 2018
The model i have P71 has just been succeeded by the P72, launched this year I believe.

Windows 10 Pro for workstations came installed on it and I did try to install Windows 7 Pro but had to force install it and nothing much more than the basic's work.

Can't even find a driver to get the usb ports working, not even as legacy usb 1.

Problem Solved ! Edius is installed !

I just got a solution from my GV distributor, it's a pretty simple one but never would have looked in that area.

Just remove the files (i did both x86 and x64) and install Edius9.

It's installed at the beginning when Edius 9 installer does it's thing but it did not remove it for some reason during un-installation.

I did un-install Edius 9 before and did not encounter this issue, can't explain what happened, but there it is....
