  • Help after installing new agp card please

I have just installed Nvidia Geforce 7600gs into my Asus P4C800 mb replacing my old FX5500. I am using Edius 4.54.
I dont have any pictures in the Edius monitor windows, just black, the sound is there but nothing else. I do however get a picture only when I click the Start button on my desktop taskbar. It then vanishes as soon as I click the Edius program.
I also get picture if I use DVD Architect, but alas not Edius.
Can anyone please help me sort this out.

How did you install the driver for the new card?

The correct steps should be as follows -

    a) The PC with the old video card inside ... remove the software driver for that old card.
    b) Configure windows for standard VGA mode.
    c) REBOOT the PC
    d) When Windows comes in VGA - shutdown the PC, and power it off
    e) Remove old video card, plug in new video card
    f) Boot up the PC and let Windows come up
    g) Install the new device driver

I am assuming there is no h/w conflict on my motherboard.

Yes I unistalled the way you describe. I have just downloaded the latest drivers for the card and now get pictures..... BUT the pictures are too bright in Edius and correct in DVD Architect. Also when played out to a TV through the Storm card brightness is correct on TV. The picture on the Edius monitor freezes and does not run with the tv display.

I read several posts about GeForce problems with EDIUS. Might be some incompatibility at work. Can't recall which cards already. You might be able to do a search of this forum and see.

I understand EDIUS 4.54 do use the GPU for some functions. Can try asking Canopus tech support then?

7600gs and latest drivers work just fine for me with Edius 4.5.

This card is recommended by Canopus on their website.
